Capoeira Holiday to Brazil 2010

Pedra do Sal, Salvador

Accommodation:
Villa da Praia Hotel (www.villadapraia.com.br). This is a beautiful hotel in Pedra Do Sal, next to the beach with superb accommodation. Rooms to be shared by three people + balcony views of the sea, an out-side pool, air con, wi-fi etc.... REALLY FANTASTIC!!! A great place to spend a couple of weeks.

Food: An amazing Brazilian breakfast at the hotel is included. For other meals there are lots of local options such as fresh fish on the beach, restaurants nearby etc. All very affordable and delicious.

Programme: There will be a good mixture of time to relax, explore Salvador and of course play lots of capoeira!! Negao will organise rodas with mestre Olavo, Bamba, Nenel and professor Rupi. There will be opportunities to visit the Abolicao Trust project at Abaete, meet the kids and participate in the annual Batizado. This year will be the 5th Batizado at the project and every year the kids are excited to meet Abolicao students from Oxford.
Negao will take the group to visit the historic parts of old Salvador, the well known market called the 'Mercardo Modelo' and the 'Pelorinho'. Students will be able to go to a night of the amazing percussion band 'Olodum' and savour the atmosphere of the Pelorinho at night.
There are also several shopping centres to visit in Salvador, cinemas, web cafes and another 5 star hotel nearby if you fancy spending an afternoon there.

Cost: The total cost this year is £500. This includes:

Hotel accommodation for the full 14 nights
Transfers from the airport for groups of students
Breakfast in the hotel each day
All capoeira, music workshops + rodas
Transport to the Pelorinho

Please note that airport transfer can be very complicated if students all arrive at different times and on different flights. It would be really good if people coming could try to co-ordinate their flights to make the whole process easier and more manageable. There will be a couple of airport transfer options on the days of arrival and departure.

Coming on the trip??

Although the trip is open to everyone, Abolicao students take priority. The main aim is to play alot of capoeira, get to know more about Brazilian life and culture and to have a fantastic time.
If you would like to sign up please pay a deposit of £100 to Negao as soon as possible to secure your place. Please make out any cheques to ABOLICAO CAPOEIRA.
